Home decor: bring autumn to your home

27/09/2022

If you like fluffy blankets, pumpkin spice lattes, softer lighting and orange hues, then you’re in the right place at the right time. Get hyped for autumn with our tips to get your house ready for the season.

Bring the outside in

Home decor doesn’t have to mean buying whatever’s in the checkout aisle at TK Maxx. Instead, create something unique and plastic-free with some branches, dry flowers or fruits, colourful leaves, and pine cones from your garden or local park. Add copper ornaments and you got yourself a nice table decoration that you can keep all season long. Alternatively, you can hang leaves and flowers from any frame on your wall, or create a garland of autumnal leaves.

Add splashes of autumnal colour to your shelves

Sometimes, all you need to change the atmosphere of your living room are little touches. Like adding a series of small shelves with autumnal hues to adorn your walls. Decorate them with vases, plant pots, ornaments, framed photos, or any artisanal artwork found on Etsy. Focus on styling the shelves and let an experienced handyman mount your shelves.

Embrace softer lighting

Add cosiness to your living room by turning off the ceiling light and using floor and side lamps. Lamps and shades are often overlooked pieces of furniture so make sure they complement the mood you’re trying to create. Find the one for you at IKEA and get a Tasker to install a dimmer switch.

Fluff it up

Layer up soft furnishings for comfort and warmth – rugs, throws, cushions, bedding. Feel free to mix and match patterns but make sure you keep similar hues.
