Upselling your business across categories

25/10/2018

Being your own boss is a big draw—and is one of the primary reasons why many of you decided to join Taskrabbit. As a Tasker, you are your own boss and you set your schedule, your own rates and the categories in which you want to task. If you read our blog post on The power of upselling, you’re also aware that you have control over how you market your business.

If you haven’t had a chance to read The power of upselling, here are a few key takeaways suggested by seasoned Taskers for easy ways to upsell your business on Taskrabbit:

  • A great profile picture can go a long way. Remember: you are trying to advertise your professional business services, so your photo should reflect that!
  • Update your Skills & Experience pitches to make sure they show off your skills, experience and the tools you have at your disposal.
  • Update your Closing Message to let clients know what other categories you have experience in, and make sure you tell clients in person or through the chat function that they can book tasks in these categories with you at any time!

These tips aside, we’re going a step further to show you, based on our data, which categories a client is most likely to book after their initial task has been completed. For instance, our data indicate that after booking a Cleaning task, clients are most likely to go on to then book:

  • A second Cleaning task
  • A Furniture Assembly task

The table below shows more examples based on different categories. We hope this information will help you better upsell your clients on booking future tasks with you—thereby including you in their trusted circle of repeat Taskers. As you can see, Furniture Assembly, Minor Home Repairs, and General Mounting are great categories to be in!
